Morning Prayer Guide - Monday

Begin by praying the Collect for Grace and Collect for Purity:

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us safely to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we might perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Read: Hebrews 11:23-29 and Psalm 133

The eleventh chapter of Hebrews is commonly called the “faith hall of fame”.  In our passage today, the author is writing about how Moses was obedient to God’s leading through his life.  Faith is obedience: Looking into the spiritual dimension to see what God says about a matter and then doing your part.  By faith Moses did these things; faith is Moses listening to God and obeying him.

How is your faith?  Have you done all that God has asked you to do?  Ask God to help you with this.  Everyone gets tired and distracted.  God gives us grace to remain focused and on task.  You may find the following prayer helpful:

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
