Begin by praying the Collect for Grace and Collect for Purity.
Collect for Grace:
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us safely to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collect for Purity:
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we might perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Read: Psalm 5, Zechariah 10:1-12, and Matthew 18:6-9
Jesus is pretty clear that we aren’t to lead people astray. While we shouldn’t be afraid to teach others what we’ve learned about following Jesus, at the same time we should be careful that what we’re teaching is actually the truth.
Fortunately, there is a way to be reasonably sure. It takes a lot of work, though. It involves walking so close to the Master that we’re breathing his dust. Remember what we prayed about yesterday?
Take some time to pray about this. Ask God to help you to be a good leader and faithful to him. Ask him to show you when you make mistakes and help you correct them. Write your own prayer.
