Begin by praying the Collect for Grace and Collect for Purity.
Collect for Grace:
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us safely to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collect for Purity:
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we might perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Read: Psalm 13, Daniel 8:15-27, and Hebrews 10:32-39
Not every bad thing we experience is punishment. Sometimes he leads us through something in order to make us stronger. God is continually growing us, trying to help us become more like him. Sometimes it isn’t fun, but the end result is that we are better than we could ever be on our own.
Take some time to pray about this. How has God worked in you to bring about growth? Did you resist it, or did you go along with it and learn everything you could? Did you resent God for it, or were you thankful? Ask God to help you be thankful for the times of growth, and ask him to help you take advantage of them. Write your own prayer.
