Begin by praying the Collect for Grace and Collect for Purity.
Collect for Grace:
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us safely to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collect for Purity:
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we might perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Read: Psalm 99, Deuteronomy 9:15-24, and Luke 10:21-24
Jesus told his disciples that they had seen things that no one else had seen. They had experienced things that would make others jealous. They had gotten to live with the Son of God – and there were many who would have made great sacrifices in order to do the same.
We are about to end the season after Epiphany. We are about to enter the season of Lent. We’ve been focusing on Christ revealing himself to us. Tomorrow is the climax of the season, when we follow Jesus to the mountain and see him transfigured. God spoke from heaven and said, “This is my beloved Son. Hear him!”
How has Christ revealed himself to you over the past few weeks? Do you see him more clearly than before? Are you ready to follow him into the wilderness? Take some time to pray about this. Ask God to continue to show himself to you. Write your own prayer.
